Margli Matthews, PG Dip. Couns, Dip. Biographical Counselling, Cert. Supervision, MBACP (accred), UKRCP, CAHSC registered counsellor is a biographical counsellor and trainer with over 30 years experience in adult education and private practice. A former faculty member of Emerson College and the Centre for Social Development, she is co-founder of the Biography and Social Development Trust and has over 15 years’ experience designing and leading the Training in Biographical Counselling. She teaches training courses and workshops in many countries throughout the world. She is a contributor to the book Lifeways and co-author of Ariadne’s Awakening, a book concerned with a new consciousness of the feminine and masculine principles in our lives.

Course Leaders of Foundations Year 1

Ileana Botero, Dip. Biographical Counselling, UKCP registered, MBACP, is a biographical counsellor and trainer. She assisted and then cocarried the Training in Biographical Counselling with Margli Matthews for several years. She worked in social therapy in a community for people with learning disabilities for over 20 years.

Cristina D’Agostino, PG Dip. Couns, Dip. Biographical Counselling, Dip. Biography Work, CAHSC registered, MBACP, is a biographical counsellor at Blackthorn Medical Centre and in private practice in Sussex and London. She teaches in the Biography Training in Brazil and runs biography workshops. She translated the book ‘Biographical Work: The Anthroposophical Basis,’ by Gudrun Burkhard.

External Consultant

Anita Charton, Dipl.Psych, M.A. Psychology, Dip. Biographical Counselling, co-founder of the Biography and Social Development Trust, with many years’ experience directing the Training in Biographical Counselling.

Throughout the Training, a number of other biographical counsellors/psychotherapists, medical doctors, consultants and artists contribute to the course out of their professional experience.

Other Costs

Students will also have additional expenses for the required personal counselling and supervision as well as books and course materials that they might want to purchase.

Accommodation and Meals

The course takes place at Emerson College in Forest Row, East Sussex. The College will find accommodation for students and provide meals during course weeks and weekends upon request. All arrangements and payments need to be made directly with the College.
